What started off in 2006 as a small town christian rock show in Montague, Michigan. Rock Against Abuse has become so much more immersive and it seems that everyone is trying to get their talents involved in such a great cause.
In 2006, Jonathon Jacobs had the bold idea to raise money for the Child Abuse Council of Muskegon and due to the economy dwindling and the local band scene fizzling down, he bowed out.
Ten years later in 2016 Jonathon and his Event Coordinator, Kaley Stevens, have whipped together a fresh new team willing to help and provide a great variety of talents.
Since the rebirth of Rock Against Abuse (RAA) with this new team, local businesses in the area are opening their hearts to participate and offer what they can for the cause.
One of the first to rise to the cause was Unruly Brewing. They opened their doors and a portion of their profits for the night of the event.
Tony Laskowicz of 1st Assured Bail Bonds also helped secure Hackley Park and in addition, helped promote the event during Rebel Road last month.
This is going to be a sure way to kiss summer goodbye as the last outdoor show in Muskegon. They are looking forward to seeing all of their hard work pay off. They’re hoping to improve the lives of countless children affected by child abuse every year and look forward to making this an annual celebration and community gathering.
